Auto-Refresh and Stop Button for Combined Column Calculation

When you create or update a combined column in a Privilege Log, Lighthouse Analytics (LHA) calculates values by combining multiple underlying fields or applying logical rules. During this calculation process, LHA automatically refreshes the Privilege Log page so that you can see progress without manually reloading. A Stop button is available if you prefer to pause automatic refresh.

Common triggers for combined column calculations include:

• Sync Search Population: Updating the documents in the log’s saved search scope.
• Editing Column Settings: Modifying a column’s formula or name.
• Recalculating Column Values: Manually refreshing existing combined column data to ensure it’s up to date.

Auto-Refresh Behavior

• Automatic Interval: Every 5 seconds, the system checks whether calculation is complete and refreshes the page if needed.
• Loading Icon: A loading indicator appears to show that the system is actively checking on the column’s progress.
• Completion: Once the column finishes calculating, the page automatically updates to display the final values.

Stop Button

A Stop button is visible next to the refresh/loading icon while the system is auto-refreshing.

• Stopping Auto-Refresh: Clicking Stop halts the automatic refresh for the remainder of the current session.
• Effect on Future Calculations: If you press Stop and then recalculate the same column again without leaving the page, auto-refresh remains disabled.

Tip: To restore auto-refresh, leave the page and come back while the calculation is still active (see “Manual Refresh and Re-Enabling Auto-Refresh” below).

Manual Refresh and Re-Enabling Auto-Refresh

• Manual Refresh: If you click Refresh Column while auto-refresh is running, the 5-second timer resets. Auto-refresh continues after this manual refresh.
• Re-Enable Auto-Refresh: If you previously used Stop, auto-refresh turns back on automatically only if you navigate away from the page and then return while the calculation is still in progress.

Restrictions During Calculation

While the combined column is recalculating, LHA does not allow:

• Syncing Search Scope for the same Privilege Log.
• Editing the same combined column’s logic or name.

You can still navigate to other logs or perform other tasks within LHA, but these specific actions are locked to prevent data conflicts.

When the Calculation Occurs

The calculation and auto-refresh cycle starts whenever you:

• Create or edit a combined column.
• Recalculate an existing column via the gear icon.
• Sync or update the underlying saved search (Sync Search Population).
