COLUMNS Button

IN THIS ARTICLE

The COLUMNS button allows you to customize the fields displayed in your privilege log. Once customized, you can save your privilege log as a template, which can be reused for future logs. To access the COLUMNS button, click the privilege log NAME of an Open log. For Finalized logs, the customization options are more limited. This article covers the customization options available based on the log's status.

WHO CAN PERFORM

If you have the necessary permissions to Create and Manage Privilege Logs, you can access the column customization options. Users without these permissions will only have limited functionality.

Columns Menu Options for Open Logs

For logs with the status Open, the following customization options are available:

  • Select — Choose which columns to display in the privilege log. This includes selecting standard fields and any custom fields that have been created.
  • Group and Sort — You can group the privilege log data by specific columns and sort fields either in ascending or descending order.
  • Create Combined Columns — This option allows you to create a custom combined column, such as a Privilege Description column. This field merges multiple column values and applies formatting rules to streamline information. Custom combined columns will display in a lighter color, indicating they are custom fields. For more details on combined columns, refer to the Create Combined Column article.

Columns Menu Options for Finalized Logs

For Finalized logs, the COLUMNS button has limited functionality. You can still adjust the following:

  • Select — Choose which columns to display in the log.
  • Group and Sort — Sort and group data by various fields in the privilege log, even in a finalized state.

Custom Fields Gear Icon

When you create a custom field using the Create Combined Column option, a gear icon appears next to the custom column name in the Privilege Log. Clicking this gear icon opens a menu with options depending on the status of the log (Open or Finalized).

Open Logs

For open logs, the gear icon next to the custom column displays the following options:

  • Submit Custom Field to Relativity – This new option allows you to submit the custom combined field directly to Relativity, creating a new field with the combined column’s name and values. Once submitted, the new field can be accessed and used across Relativity, making it available for future privilege logs and other Relativity processes. More details on how to create and submit custom fields can be found in the Create Combined Column article.
  • Edit Column Settings – This allows you to modify the column name or underlying logic of the combined field. Use this to adjust the field's concatenation rules, format, or values.
  • Recalculate Column Values – This option recalculates the combined values based on the updated data in the log. It ensures the most current information is reflected in the column.
  • Delete Column – Selecting this will permanently delete the custom column from the privilege log. A warning message will appear, prompting you to confirm the deletion.

Finalized Logs

For finalized logs, the only available action is:

  • View Column Settings – This action allows you to view the settings of the combined column. You will be directed to a page that displays the concatenation rules and values used in the combined field. However, since the log is finalized, all fields are disabled, and no edits can be made. This feature provides transparency into the field’s logic without permitting modifications after finalization.
